Sit, Chat, Learn, and Love
What a powerful movement of the Spirit and the community. The Fellowship and Growth Team had the brainstorm of putting skin-toned chairs on our front lawn as another way of affirming our support for racial harmony. We looked at 7 high quality Adirondack chairs at Olde Farms Furniture in East Canaan. Once they understood what we wanted to do , they donated them! We turned to our good friend, the Rev.Dr. Shelley Best of Redeemer’s AME Zion Church in Plainfield and the 224 Ecospace in Hartford to suggest the colors as much of her art is based on skin tones. We asked friend professional painter Matt Bannerman (Mad River Painting Co) if he would paint them, and he offered to provide both material and his labor at no charge.
And so, here they are on the front lawn, inviting conversation, contemplation, and peaceful fellowship. Come find a chair, any chair!
