Assisting Afghan Refugees

A group from Norfolk and Colebrook is working with the Northwest Hills Refugee Resettlement Committee (NWHRRC) to settle and support an Afghan family in northwest Connecticut. Call the church if you would like to participate. NWHRRC is a co-sponsorship group of International Refugee and Immigration Services (IRIS)

James Mars Day -, May 1

Salisbury School, the Church of Christ, Congregational UCC of Norfolk, and the Norfolk Historical Society have announced the placement of a Witness Stone to honor James Mars on May 1st, 2021 on the day the State of Connecticut proclaimed James Mars Day. f you could not be part of this important day honoring one of Norfolk's most extraordinary residents, you can join in virtually below. Special guests included Jahana Hayes, Kevin Witkos, Maria Horn, Dennis Powell (Berkshire NAACP) and the Rev. Cleo Graham (current pastor of the church in Hartford that Mars helped found).

Green Team Postcard Project

Join the Green Team in writing postcards to support environmental and climate change action! We have topics, addresses, and scripts for issues from auto emissions, to pipelines, to land conservation. We have postcards and stamps (or you can use your own). This effort stated back in April 2021, but is continuing with new campaigns. Contact the church for instructions on how to join in.

The Collaboration Continues

Together with Rev. Dr. Shelley Best, our friends at Redeemer’s AME Church in Plainville, and others our joint work to understand and eradicate racism is ongoing. We last gathered by Zoom on Thursday, April 22 at 7 PM. to discuss the film "Cooked: Survival by Zip Code."

Raise The Steeple!
Our historic 1813 steeple is an iconic part of Norfolk located in the town center on the Village Green. It was taken down over a year ago for safety reasons and to access it for the work needed to restore it. The Raise the Steeple committee was formed in 2020 to address the deterioration and rot that has developed over the years. This includes replacing and repairing wood railings and decorative trim plus repainting the spire, lantern, belfry and clock tower. The plan is to also restore and repair the clock. Read more ...
