Blankies and Dolls
The Table of Remembrance, the “Amen Pews”, the front railings and the balcony railings were all decorated this Sunday with the abundant output of the Loom Room in our new Maker Space. These blankies (95 of them) and dolls (some added just this morning), along with toothbrushes, toothpaste and socks will be sent to children already passed through immigration and awaiting in centers at the border to be reunited with their families. This is an ongoing project. The blankies are woven, knitted, sewn, quilted, or crocheted. Alesia Maltz, whose looms are the hightlight of the Loom Room, calls this a “Loaves and Fishes” project (whenever the materials supply seems to be running short, more appears!) and a “Holy Spirit Tailwind”. The Loom Room is open at all Maker Space Open House events (3rd Saturday in October and November, 2-4 pm) and on Tuesday afternoons from 1-3 pm.
